I have spent most of my 49 years battling a serious weight problem. Five years ago I began to lose the 220 pounds that I have kept off for three years. I wasn’t aware of it, but several friends commented on how I needed to learn how to walk correctly. It was pointed out that I was moving as if I was still burdened with excess weight. I began twice weekly pilates sessions with a trainer. These sessions became a journey in awareness, both body and personal. As my core began to strengthen, I began moving with fluidity and grace. My body, whether walking, standing, sitting, or laying, began to utilize the lessons I had learned through pilates and implement them into daily activities. I would pull my shoulders down, open up my chest, and pull my abs in without even thinking. These became natural movements for me. My flexibility, range of motion, posture, and core strength have all improved dramatically over three years of pilates training. Pilates not only benefits the physical body, but it feeds the mind and soul. I often feel like I am levitating three inches off the ground when I leave a session. Regular pilates sessions, whether it be with a trainer, a class at the gym, or home by myself, have become a necessity in my lifestyle and will remain a necessity.

Over the past few months, I have seen great changes in how my body looks and feels - all with increased stamina. By working with pilates, I have reduced the amount of visits to my chiropractor as well as my massage therapist. I have suffered from lower back pain and muscle spasms in my shoulder and neck over the past year. My training has greatly provided more flexibility in areas I never thought were possible. The exercises that I have been taught have also greatly enhanced my regular workout with weights and cardio. I look forward to even greater things that I can do in the coming months.

I selected Pivotal Motion Pilates after viewing a number of local studios and interviewing a selection of instructors, completing workouts with each of them. Pivotal Motion has a beautiful, expansive studio with the widest variety of equipment I have seen.
I have found that Erika and Cassandra have a level of expertise that I was unable to find elsewhere. Each of them provide watchful, detailed instruction throughout every lesson to ensure that I properly learn the key, core body positions that you need to use with all of the exercises. They maintain the excellent balance of pushing me hard so that I am constantly learning and able to excel, but keeping the training at a level where I don't risk injury. In addition, both have the gift of laughter, so although my workouts are strenuous and require great focus, I have a wonderful time. I am always smiling when I leave!
My results have been thrilling for me. After having three children in four years, I am working hard to recover from the pregnancies and regain my figure. I was afraid that it was impossible. However, after a few months working with Erika and Cassandra I can say that I have noticeable changes to my figure, and now believe I will look better than I did before having children!
